Positive Perspective

A few weeks ago I talked about how negativity was taking my life in a direction I did not want to go.

As I started out on my journey to become more positive I noticed one thing in particular, perspective  REALLY matters.

I can complain until the cows come home, but it accomplishes nothing. However, if I thank the Lord for all he has blessed me with, my heart is full, and I am closer to my God. I noticed that if I focused on all the good going on around me, everything seemed well, brighter.

Once I stood back and took a look at everything, I realized that I have a lot to be thankful for. Today, I am alive, I have legs that allow me to run, I have a job to go to, and I can see the beautiful world God has created. I am continually blessed by my friends and family, and God is providing in ways I couldn't even imagine.

So here is to a positive perspective and all the blessing God continually rains down on each one of us. I am so very thankful for the person reading this, thank you for helping me on my journey to the person God calls me to be!

Love Always,
Alix

P.S. That sweet little boy is Diego, I am so very thankful for him. (Thats how it ties into the post...get it?) Plus he is just so amazingly cute that I had to share a picture of him. Oh, and his hair naturally does that faux hawk thing, love it!!! Thanks for letting me constantly hold your little boy Jenny!

Ten Important Things My Father Taught Me

For Mother's day I wrote this post. I thought it would be fun to write one for my Father too.

Here it is, ten important things my Father taught me.

1) Always remember to laugh, it's essential to living a good life.
2) Teasing is a way to show others you love them. Make sure to be nice though.
3) Silly nicknames made up by your Father NEVER go away:) Just embrace them. (Seriously though Dad, Clyde? Really?!)
4) Always be generous, every blessing is from God. It was never ours in the first place.
5) Kindness and a smile go a long way in this world.
6) Prayer is powerful, never ever stop praying.
7) Always be willing to help others, they are our family, blood relative or not.
8) Worshiping God can be done anywhere at any time.
9) Take time to study God's word. God knows what he is talking about.
10) Finally, Joshua 1:9, "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you no matter where you go." This verse has and will always be my favorite because of you.

Dad, you really are my hero. You taught me how to love first. You are a great example to me, and you have always reflected God's love. You amaze me with your generosity, compassion, and goofiness. Thank you Dad for being the best Dad we could ask for. I love you!!!

Negative Nelly

Via
Recently I have found that a positive attitude is much more beneficial than a negative one.

In the process of learning this lesson, I have learned a few things about negativity....

  1. If you give negativity an inch it will take a mile. Negativity will quickly start to seep into everything aspect of life if allowed.
  2. If you allow the negative thoughts to enter, negativity will also take all your thoughts faster than an angry wildebeest.
The moral of the story is, being negative is not worth it!

I want to live a life that is positive and uplifting. I also want to spread positivity and love where ever I go not destruction.

So, I am giving up the negativity. Its destructive, and it distracts me from all the things that really matter.

I know its going to be tough and it wont happen over night. However, I think that embracing positivity is another way for me to grow into the women God intends for me to be.

Crafting Weekend

This weekend I got to do a couple crafts I have been meaning to do.

I saw the idea on Pintrest for a office planter. I cant find the link for it, so if anyone has it let me know!

This is what I used:

  • Corkboard
  • Fabric
  • Square Vase
  • Succulent Plants
  • Potting Soil
First I cut the cork board into squares based on the size of the vase

I then I covered the cork board with fabric using hot glue. Then attached the fabric covered cork board to the vase with more hot glue.

I found these succulents at Home Depot, I used some potting soil and planted them in the vase. I cant wait to put this in my office!

I also got to make these adorable hair bows for some very special little girls. I used this tutorial by the Pleated Poppy. I just made the dimensions 6' x 4', so the bows were a little smaller. Then I put the bows on some small duck bill clips.

What crafts have you been wanting to do lately? I would love to hear some of your ideas!

Eryn's Graduation + A Concert

My sister graduated high school a few weeks ago. The weekend was full of celebrating, seeing friends, and hanging out with family.

Eryn's speech was amazing, and we could not be more proud of her!

A few days later Eryn and I went to the Taylor Swift Concert in Glendale. We had a great time with each other and getting to hang out with my Mom after.

My sister looks a little like Taylor, there were several people who did a double take when they saw her. I have never seen so many people so excited and disappointed to see her at the same time!

Plus it was the only time we may ever get away with wearing red lipstick!

I already miss my family, but I am so grateful for the time I get to spend with them!

His Promises are True

Via

Lately, I have felt...well... stuck.

Things have been changing at my office, in my family, and at my church. Im a little lost and confused as to what God wants me to do next.

As a result I tend to get a little down.

Luckily for me I have an amazing husband who reminds me of the promises God made to us.

"God's promises are based on who he is. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore his promises are eternal, consistent, and will never change." ~Ben Bennett

  • God is always faithful- Psalms 117:2
  • God will never leave or forsake us- Deuteronomy 31:6
  • We are God's, and he we will love us forever- Psalms 118:28-29
  • God will be with us where ever we go- Joshua 1:9
  • God will always provide a way- Isaiah 41:13
  • God is trustworthy- Proverbs 3:5-6
  • God has a plan for each one of us- Jeremiah 29:11
Even though I am still not sure what to do next, it's comforting to know that God never changes. While I know this is hard, I can see God can use this to help me grow. I know that growth is even more important than knowing what to do next.

Love Always,
Alix
